Therapy for Children, Teens, Couples, and Families
What is Moving Families Forward?
Moving Families Forward is a therapy practice that helps children, teens, couples, and families strengthen their relationships and create positive change for a new path forward. We use traditional talk therapy techniques along with mindfulness, EMDR and other creative interventions to build deeper connections, create personal insight and help individuals and families find hope and healing.
We will explore past negative life events and traumas that are keeping you and your family stuck. We specialize in anxiety, depression, trauma, and family conflict. Our services are offered online and in person in the Fort Washington area.
Mind/Body Therapy
Stress, anxiety, depression and trauma not only affect our minds but manifest in our body. For example, when we are anxious, our heart begins to race or we feel butterflies in our stomach. Breathing, mindfulness, movement and EMDR interventions recognize the mind body connection and are essential in helping individuals and families recover.

What Clients Are Saying
“Dahlia has a gift in truly listening to her clients. She uses creativity to challenge clients to tap in to their emotions and thought processes during their traumas and experiences. She also uses movement to help clients to learn how to better express their feelings as well. She uses an extremely different approach than other talk-based therapists and I use many of her practices in my own life outside of therapy.”
“A session with Dahlia always gave our family an opportunity to connect with each other. She facilitated creative activities like drawing, writing, or movement as another modality for communication. Dahlia built trust, in individual sessions with our daughter, and provided additional support and problem-solving in phone calls with me. We are grateful for our sessions with her.”
